Garden Statues – The Appeal of Gardens
One of the central themes relating to gardening is the creation of a visual masterpiece that integrates living plants with inanimate objects to produce an attractive harmony. Gardening is not often considered an art form, but rather the culmination of other art forms to produce an end product. Still, it’s hard to argue that a beautiful garden is anything less than pure art in its finest.
A great deal of effort has gone into designing and planning gardens over the centuries. Learning which flowers to plant to compliment each other’s beauty can take many years of trial and error, while figuring out what to do with uneven or overly rocky terrain can present its own unique challenges. Much like an artist who experiments on canvas or who edits and re-edits a written work, gardening is very much the same.
Advanced forms of gardening have led to amazing feats including the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the likes of which have yet to be replicated to this day. Interesting constructions involving the intricate combination of water with plants are another great example of the potentials of gardening as a form of art.
Garden Statues – Effective Usage of Statuary
Although building your own Hanging Gardens of Babylon might be a goal out of reach, there are still many ways you can enhance the beauty of your yard. Aside from ponds, fountains and attractive flower beds, you can make use of garden statues to complete the image you are striving to capture.
The sheer variety of garden statues available for use is almost overwhelming, and guarantees that you should be able to find combinations that suit your final plans as closely as possible. By expertly introducing the elements of attractive statuary to your garden you can lend it a very personal ambience that will be envied by friends and family alike, and that will produce an area that you’ll be proud to spend a great deal of time in.
Placement of garden statues can be an art form in its own. Finding out the best location can take plenty of careful consideration and more than likely a fair amount of experimentation. Depending on the size, color, material and appearance of the statue you have selected, it can be a challenge to find the perfect place for it to go in your garden.
We’ve put together a few suggestions to give you a general idea of how to use garden statues effectively in your garden. Although these are only rudimentary guidelines, they will allow you to create a very attractive garden. The best advice, however, is to experiment with what materials and garden statues you have until you find a combination that looks and feels right.
· Large Statue Centerpiece – This concept involves the placement of a single large statue at the center of a series of plants, rocks, smaller statues or any other garden features. Large garden statues will usually be elaborate and highly admirable, meaning that the goal is to highlight its appearance without overshadowing it with the rest of your garden.
Ringing large garden statues with a flower bed or small shrubberies can help to hide the base while causing the eye to proceed towards the statue itself. Surrounding it with a small fountain-fed moat in which water plants are growing is another great idea, especially of the statue itself is the fountain.
· Small Matched Statues – Garden statues that are part of a set, for example a family of deer crafted out of stone, should be placed in such a way as to seem natural. You can add a woodland ambience to your yard with a family of animals in statue form, so place them how you think they would appear in the wild.
Try to keep these garden statues fairly close together if possible, as a large gap can cause people to overlook the entirety of your set. On the same hand, placing them too close together looks unnatural, so a balance is definitely needed.
· Small Standalone – Small standalone garden statues have much the same effect as the large centerpiece variety. They are intended to highlight a certain area while acting as a centerpiece of sort. These smaller garden statues allow you to place them in an area of your garden where a centerpiece would not be suitable, such as in a corner by a wall or fence, or amongst bushes and flowers.
Garden Statues – Additional Information
You will find that the addition of garden statues to your yard can transform what was merely an attractive place into a truly beautiful one. Trying to find the perfect positioning and balance can be a fun way to pass the time, and is definitely a form of art that you can enjoy with your entire family. If your yard is lacking that special finishing touch, garden statues just might be your solution.
